Thank you “Pastor” Elizabeth for the brief, yet touching, two point message in church this morning.

Yes, my pastor is a fantastic communicator, mighty handler of the Word, and worthy of my undivided attention, but… this morning, I couldn’t help but to observe another message also occurring during the main sermon.

You see, this beautiful, 11 month-old girl, sitting a couple of rows ahead of us, in the next section over, was demonstrating a beautiful sermon, without even saying a word, and unbeknownst to her. Here’s the play by play.

Elizabeth was sitting on her mom’s lap and EVERY TIME she looked to her left and saw her dad, she would R  E  A  C  H with every fiber of her 28-inch frame, and try to pull down his mask; to see his face. Her mom would try to distract and reposition her on a different leg but little ‘Liz would have none of that. Seeing his daughter’s desperateness, he took her into his outstretched arms.

It was then I immediately downloaded the first message that the Holy Spirit was revealing to me, “seek My face (My presence) the same way Michelle. Expectantly. Persistently. With unabandon like no one is watching. Don’t give up or fall for distractions. Seek My face.”

Perhaps, many of you may have heard this familiar IF/THEN verse over the past year…

IF My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” ~ 2 Chron. 7:14

Or maybe you’ve some of these other verses,

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.” ~ Psalm 27:8

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” ~ Jeremiah 23:11

Well, persistence paid off and Elizabeth did get to see her dad’s face.

He/she pulled down his mask.

He smiled.

She smiled back.

And then he gently turned her around and nestled her under his strong arm.

It was then I got the second point God was playing out before me as this verse then came to mind.

He will cover you with His pinions (feathers), and under His wings you may take refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and wall.” ~ Psalm 91:4

Ahh….Once again all was well in the third row, with the new gray, cushioned chairs and, I was totally focused back on my head pastor’s message, promise.

Meanwhile, stay or get into the Word, pay attention to all the sermons Your Father has for you and…Sweet Elizabeth, the little blue jean shoulder ruffles totally work for you, keep going with that savvy look but probably lose it by junior year prom dress time…just sayin’.
